.The Ignis will be the latest product from the Maruti Suzuki stable. This new hatchback will be positioned below the Baleno and sold exclusively through the Nexa premium dealership channel.
.Bookings for this car will open in the first week of January. Interested customers can also do an e-booking on the Nexa website. The Ignis will go on sale on January 13th next year at a concert by EDM artist Axwell.
.The Ignis will have the same engine options as the Maruti Baleno; a 1.2 litre petrol engine that makes 83 bhp and a 1.3 litre, turbocharged diesel engine that puts out 74 bhp.
.In order to provide more flexibility of choice for the prospective buyer, Maruti Suzuki will provide both a 5 speed manual gearbox and an AMT automatic option on both petrol and diesel variants of the Ignis.
.In addition to the standard exterior paint colour options, Maruti Suzuki will provide three additional options of dual tone paint schemes for the Ignis. These sort of paint jobs were first seen for a Maruti vehicle on the Vitrara Brezza.
.The funky nature of the new Ignis is carried over to its passenger cabin as well, where it again gets a dual tone interior, faux carbon fibre trims and accents in the colour of the exterior of the car. The design element consisting of three diagonal stripes, which the company refers to as the Suzuki progressive triad, is also found both on the exterior and interior of the car.
.Despite being a small and sensible hatchback, the Ignis is well stocked with features. You get a tablet-like 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an automatic AC, steering mounted controls, a multi information display (MID), a 12 volt power socket, voice recognition, LED projector headlights with LED daytime running lamps and much more.
.The new Ignis looks striking, especially with its 15 inch, blacked-out alloys. The car measures 3700mm long, 1690mm wide and has a wheelbase of 2435mm. Most importantly, it has been given a ground clearance of 180mm, which should help it deal with most of our ghastly road surfaces.
.Buyers of the new Ignis will be provided with a high degree of personalisation and customisation by Maruti Suzuki to help make their vehicles a bit more unique. You can even purchase add-ons such as roof wraps.
.Maruti Suzuki has given a good amount of attention to safety as well, and as a result, the Ignis has been kitted out with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Isofix anchoring points, reverse parking sensors and even a rear view camera. It even meets regulations for side, rear and frontal offset impacts and pedestrian safety as well.
