McDonald’s Introduces Table Service At 400 UK Restaurants

McDonald’s is to introduce table service to 400 of its restaurants in the UK. Customers will still have the option of queueing at the till as per McDonald’s tradition, but they can also have a staff member bring their food to their table.

Hundreds of restaurants are being revamped to implement the change, and burgers will be cooked to order. It follows a successful trial in which customers ordered their food at a digital kiosk and then waited for it to be brought to their table.

McDonald’s also plans to double the number of restaurants which sell its Signature Collection of premium burgers.

There are more than 1,250 McDonald’s restaurants in the UK.

Paul Pomroy, chief executive of McDonald’s UK, said: “Investing in our customer experience is paramount. “It’s important that we continue to listen to the 3.7 million people who visit us every day and respond with even more reasons for them to come to our restaurants.

“In 2016 we will continue to focus on providing great value and variety, as well as invest in our restaurants, our people and our menu, to ensure customers enjoy a great experience every time they visit us.” Table service has so far been trialled in 14 McDonald’s restaurants.

Mr Pomroy said: “We opened 26 new restaurants last year and the rollout of our reimaging programme is transforming the way we serve customers, and has been a key growth driver.

“To date, over 300 restaurants have been refurbished and we expect a further 350 to be completed and reopened for customers by the end of the year – an average of one every day.”
